Palace fan in peace.

Firstly, a good game the other night. Thought we were lucky to come in at 0-0 at half time but deserved a goal second half and shaded it overall, but maybe a draw would have been fair. Credit to the few hundred or so who made it down for a cold wet Monday night when its on sky. And how is Carr still that quick ? Thought Redmond looked dangerous but Clyne is premiership bound and showed it against him.

You may or may not have seen our protest when the players came out:

This is something that affects all teams outside of the premier league and is so ridiculously shortsighted that something needs to be done by all fans. Basically it means that the premier league can rip off every other club for their young players at a fraction of their worth and put academies, and therefore every club that relies on them in serious trouble. More information here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/20...s_in_favou.html
If all the teams in the football league can get behind this, we just might make a difference. If not then I shudder to think what would happen.

I dont know if you guys have an academy, although im sure most clubs must have, but we'd be very grateful for your support. You can make a real difference by getting this out there and getting people to sign the petition - if we get enough it will make it into parliament:

Either way cheers, and good luck for the rest of the season (apart from one game)

I've signed it, because I believe that THIS agreement is wrong.

BUT........... this works 2 ways.

How many kids can any Premier club take on? It isn't infinite.

Out of the dozens of U16s say, how many will progress through to the first team?
At Chelsea that is probably none in 3 years. Although they have been censured, fined and transfer embargoed as a result of 'stealing' kids. Man Utd similar.
What this rule does is remove the danger of penalties for poaching from the "richer" clubs.

A Chamberlain or even a Redmond (under 18 and not professionally contracted) will have an auction.

Not a rigid set-in-stone formula.

For the sake of argument, a "Redmond-type' prospect could leave Blues for less than £300k. But if a player was well regarded the club and him would have mutli-offers, an auction and a Chamerlain-type fee.

There are 2 ways of looking at this.

Young players at Man Utd / Chelsea /Arsenal are more easilly "poachable" by clubs with limited budgets, but offering regular first team play.

The formula is not set in stone, but auctions ain't going to take place for kids who can't get off Carrington.

Where Dario Gradi picked up the abandoned players from Man Utd - like Robbie Savage - when they were kids, all of us clubs in the cheaper end, can afford to buy for once, and not wait for rejected or abandoned kids.

It works both ways.

Cheaper 'poaching' by the Premier equals TOO many kids.

Too many kids = more unloading eventually.

I have signed the petition, because I think that it is a form of blackmail - the threat to withold 'drip-down' payments to the Football League.
Cappello is against it, and seemingly Platini and EUFA agree with him.

Who knows, it may be another "Match 39" ballsup by the Premier League.

:D

The point you make is certainly true however, a player from your club could be taken for a tiny fee at 16 then not make it at Man U or Chelsea at 18-20 but be good enough to play in the Championship. They would then sell him to the highest bidder which is bound to be a lot more money than you sold him for in the first place. Even if he came back to your club you'd have lost 2 odd years of playing him and be out of pocket for someone you developed.

I am starting learn a few more things about this Eppp scheme to worry me big time! For instance to get a grade one academy status you need to employ 18 coaches and have at least 5 hours access to the player daily!

You also need to spend £2.3 mil per season on your academy along with several other criterias which by the sound of things financially at blues I can't see us being in a position to do either of the above which would then therefore leave us at the mercy of clubs that can afford to do this locally especially!

I have hated every minute of wolves and WBA pinching our players so I know I am going to feel a hell of a lot worse if it is good kids with promise.

:applause:

It was the money

The FL would have lost their "trickle-down" payments from the Prem.

The numerous FL executives ( really numerous - far more than the Premier have) would have become redundant or forced onto to lower earnings - so it's no wonder that they sold the idea of suicide.

imo.

The Premier League threatened to withold payments to the Football League if the deal wasn't agreed. Payments they were duty bound to pass on from TV and Overseas Income.
A threat, a kind of blackmail - imo - that the FL were too scared to call.

And with the scrapping of the 90 minute travel rule, Chelsea and Man Utd no longer have to buy a £450,000 house for the parents of a 15 year old...really brilliant ....they can rent a house now, to see if the kid survives.

Anyone seen Chelsea's incredible outlay (££££s) on children, and how many never got passed 16 ?

:LMAO:

Now it won't matter.

Might Is Right

:boohoo:
